Nestled in the Arizona desert foothills, just north of the metropolitan Phoenix area, you’ll find the unique towns of Cave Creek and Carefree. While the adjacent towns share many similarities and a spectacular natural environment, they also have quite contrasting personalities.
Upscale Carefree is a bit subdued and boasts a vast array of quaint shops and art galleries along with wonderful restaurants and even a small amphitheater that hosts farmer’s markets and cultural events. You’ll even find the largest sundial in the country located right in the center of town.
Cave Creek has managed to maintain its Wild West personality and has become one of the most recognized western towns in the United States. In fact, Cave Creek still lives by the motto, “Where the Wild West lives.” While Carefree rolls up the carpet early, Cave Creek features an abundance of local saloons, restaurants and southwestern themed retail shops. Live entertainment can be enjoyed almost nightly from national acts to homegrown talent.
Both Carefree and Cave Creek are located high above the “Valley of the Sun” where the air is cooler and cleaner than in the city. Prickly Pear Inn will be your perfect base to launch your day trips south to Phoenix and Scottsdale, or north to the mountain towns of Prescott, Jerome, Sedona and Flagstaff.
